DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh started their Tri-Nation series with a
losing note as they suffered a 1-0 goal defeat to upper ranked Malaysia held
at National Stadium under the flood light today (Wednesday).
From the outset, Bangladesh looked sharp, hungry and in complete control.
They pegged Malaysia deep into their own half till the 28th minutes with
series of attacks.
Bangladesh came close of scoring early in the 6th minute. Shamsunnahar Jr's
provided a cross from the right flank but Rituporna could not connect her
head to the ball from the close range.
Malaysia however broke the deadlock in the 29th minute following a counter
attack. Malaysian midfielder Nur Ainsyah, after receiving a pass from
midfield, darted down and sent the ball to the open net with a perfect
angular shot, after dodging past custodian Rupna Chakma, who came forward to
clear the ball.
After the resumption, Bangladesh were desperately looking forward to stage a
fight back in the match. They got a vital chance in the 68th minute, Ritu
Porna Chakma floated a cross from the left flank and substitute Sagorika took
a header from the close range but the ball went out of play narrowly beside
the left side bar.
Malaysia had a chance to increase their margin in the 90th minute but
substitute Nufazia Binti's powerful right footer shot from the close range
was brilliantly fisted by custodian Rupna.
Bangladesh pressed hard in the last five minutes to fight back in the match
creating some chances, but they could not convert those any lacks of proper
finishing and eventually they had to leave the field with empty hand.
Bangladesh will play their second match against Azerbaijan on December 2.
Azerbaijan, meanwhile, will play their opener against Malaysia on November
29.
The girls in red and green are taking part in the tri-nation as part of their
preparation for 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup to be held next year in Australia.
