DHAKA, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - Powerhouse Iran registered their third successive win in the 2nd Women's Kabaddi World Cup beating Zanzibar 51-15, held at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the capital today (Wednesday).
Iran, the runners-up of the inaugural edition, earlier registered dominant wins in their first two matches against Poland and Kenya.
The Iranian side put pressure on Zanzibar from the beginning of the match. They achieved the first all-out against Zanzibar in the 11th minute. Iran earned 20 points while Zanzibar had only one. Iran ended the first half with a commanding 28-3 lead.
Zanzibar was all-out again at the beginning of the second half. At that time, the match score line was 35-8. The African nation was all-out three times in the match third all-out came just three minutes before the final whistle.
Iran was leading 45-13 and eventually concluded the match with a 51-15 score.
After the match, Iran captain Asma Fakhri said: "We are very happy to achieve our third consecutive win. We're delighted to be able to come to Bangladesh to play this World Cup. Our team is formed by a mix of experienced and young players; our coach has formed the team that way."
When asked about the arrangements for the World Cup, she said, Bangladesh has organized the World Cup very well and they are really surprised to see such arrangements here.
