Amite, Paran misses ton in NCL

DHAKA, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Day 1 of the National Cricket League (NCL) third round saw an action packed day with Amite Hasan and Paran missed deserving century. On the other hand, Naim Sheikh and Salman Hossain Emon showed a consistency that required to keep them relevant.

Rajshahi vs Barishal

Salman Emon hit a half-century following his century in the previous round but his side Barishal Division was kept up bay by Barishal bowlers on Day 1 at Khulna Divisional Stadium today.

Salman scored a fighting 58 amid his colleagues’ downfall as Barishal were bowled out for just 212 in its first innings. Rajshahi reached six for no loss at stumps.

Rajshahi bowlers put up a total team effort with Shafiqul Islam, Ali Mohammad Walid, Rahim Ahmed, Nihaduzzaman and Sunzamul Islam, all taking two wickets apiece. 

But put into bat first, Barishal made a strong start with their openers Iftekhar Hossain Ifti and Zahiduzzaman Khan adding 62 runs for the opening stand. Ifti scored 40 while Zahiduzzaman made 29.

Nihaduzzaman Khan broke the partnership to give Rajshahi the opening and their bowlers were unstoppable from there on.

Salman resisted for a long time to pick up his century but he got hardly any support from the other end. But his fifty made sure that Barishal went past 200-run mark at least.

Chattogram vs Khulna

Chattogram made a strong start to the third round of the  National Cricket League (NCL), reaching 340-8 against Khulna Division on Day 1 at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.

Allrounder Paran missed out the ton by nine runs but his 91 gave the side a strong base after Chattogram were asked to bat first. His 100-ball-knock studded with 10 fours and four sixes. 

He shared a 94run partnership with Sazzadul Hqoue Ripon for the fifth wicket, after Chattogram were reduced to 99-4.

Yaseen Muntasir dismissed Paran to break the dangerous partnership.

However, Ripon and Irfan Shukkur then stitched 69-run for the sixth wicket to keep the runs flowing.

Ripon eventually was out for 56 while Shukkur made 62. Nayeem Hasan later added 45 to take the side past 300. 

Ashraful Hasan was batting on 8 with Mahedi Hasan on 1 at stumps.

Sofor Ali was the most successful bowler for Khulna with 4-51 while Mehedi Hasan Rana picked up 2-79.
 
Sylhet vs Rangpur

Amite Hasan missed out a deserved century as Sylhet were reduced to 172-7 against Rangpur at Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium.

After a delayed start due to wet outfield, Sylhet were troubled by Robiul Haque who removed both openers in single digit figure before Amite resisted.

While he played his shots with utmost confidence to keep the runs flowing, his effort was undermined by the failure of other batters.

Rangpur’s Abdullah Al Mamun who grabbed 3-55 sliced the Sylhet middle despite Amite’s resistance.

Before Mukidul Islam Mugdho dismissed him with a return catch, Amite hit 91 off 110 with 11 boundaries.

Rejaur Rahman Raja was batting on 28 with Naim Hossain Sakib on 2 when bad light forced early stumps to the Day 1.
 
Mymensingh vs Dhaka

Opener Naim Sheikh keeps up his good run of form as Mymensingh reached 100-2 on rain-curtailed Day 1 against Dhaka Division at Cox’s Bazar Cricket Academy.

Only 32 overs play were possible after a delayed start due to wet outfield. 

Naim Sheikh made a 55 not out to lead the charge, ensuring Mymensingh won’t fall in deep trouble despite some good bowling effort by Dhaka bowlers.

Aminul Islam Biplob was batting on 8 with Naim when the bails were drawn for Day 1. Abdul Mazid added 23 before retiring hurt due to injury.

Anamul Haque and Salahuddin Shakil took one wicket apiece for Dhaka.
