Naim, Robin, Sadikur hit centuries in NCL

DHAKA, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) -The Day 1 of the second round of 27th National 
Cricket League (NCL) saw an action packed day in different venues across the 
country amid rain interruption.

Rajshahi vs Khulna

As many as 13 wickets were fallen on Day 1 in the game between Rajshahi and 
Khulna at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

Opting to bat first, Khulna were wrapped up for 121 in 44.5 overs before 
Rajshahi replied with purpose to reach 87-3 at stumps.

Nihad Uz Zaman and SM Meherob Hossain claimed three wickets apiece to scythe 
down Khulna batting, putting Rajshahi on top.

No.9 batter Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was the top-scorer for Khulna with 23 while 
Ziaur Rahman made 21. Captain Mohammad Mithun was not out on 17 after playing 
73 balls.

Sabbir Hosain played a run-a-ball-39 to help Rajshahi recover briefly from a 
shaky start that saw them lost two wickets for 11 runs in the fourth over, 
including the wicket of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto who will lead 
Bangladesh Test team against Ireland in the next week.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Sabbir to cut short Rajshahi's advantage but 
Pritom Kumar and Sabbir Rahman put the side back on track.

Both were batting on 20 when the rain made an abrupt end to the day.

Miraz took all three wickets of Rajshahi so far. 
 
Chattogram vs Barishal

Opener Sadikur Rahman hit a century and Mominul Haque closed in on his own 
ton, guiding Chattogram to a dominant position against Barishal at Cox's 
Bazar International Stadium.

Sadikur hit 122 before being out while Mominul was on 84 as Chattogram 
reached 260-4 at stumps on Day 1. Irfan Shukkur who is yet to score was with 
Mominul at the other end.

Sadikur and Mahmudul Hasan Joy who made 25, gave Chattogram a solid start 
with 89-run for the opening stand. After the dismissal of Joy, Mominul and 
Sadikur put on 143 runs for the second wicket to further bolster the team.

Barishal then made a comeback into the game with three wickets in quick 
succession including Sadikur but Mominul held firm.
 
Mymensingh vs Rangpur

Openers Mahfiju Islam Robin and Naim Sheikh hit centuries as Mymensingh 
Division made a powerful start against Rangpur at Cox's Bazar Cricket 
Academy.

Robin hammered 127 and Naim scored 111 as they added 220 runs for the opening 
stand to give Mymensingh a start to cherish.

Abu Hasim broke through with the wicket of Naim and soon Robin followed him, 
giving Rangpur two wickets in quick succession.

Aich Mollah was batting on 23 with Abdul Majid on 8 after seeing off the rest 
of the day.

Dhaka vs Sylhet

Dhaka Division suffered a batting collapse against Sylhet at Sylhet Cricket 
Academy.

After a delayed start due to the rain that made the Day 1 game to 63-over, 
Dhaka were reduced to 120-5.

However, the day had an abrupt end as the bad light forced to call it a day.

Mahidul Islam Ankon was batting on 36 with Taibur Rahman on 12 after Dhaka 
lost wickets in cluster.

Sylhet fast bowler Ebadot Hossain was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming 3-49.
