DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - The second ODI between Bangladesh and West Indies entered the record books as spinners bowled an unprecedented 92 of the allotted 100 overs, the most ever in a One-Day International.
West Indies made history first, becoming the only team in 54 years of ODI cricket to complete all 50 overs with spin bowlers. Bangladesh followed suit, using spinners for 42 overs of their innings.
Between both sides, Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman stood as the lone pacer, delivering just eight overs in the entire match.
The previous record for the highest number of overs bowled by spinners in an ODI was 78.2, set during the Afghanistan-Ireland series in Dehradun in 2019, when the Irish spinners bowled 39 overs and the Afghan spinners 39.2.
With a combined 92 overs of spin, the Bangladesh-West Indies encounter shattered that mark, securing its place in cricket's record books and adding a remarkable chapter to the evolving art of spin bowling.
