DHAKA, May 02, 2026 (BSS)- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman returned Dhaka this evening by air after his daylong official visit to Sylhet.
During his daylong tour, he inaugurated a major project to enhance beautification and construction of flood protection infrastructure on both sides of Surma River at Chandni Ghat point. The Prime Minister addressed a public rally arranged there on the occasion.
Later, the Prime Minister inaugurated the re-excavation of the Basia River, a project closely linked to the memory of his father, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
Tarique Rahman also launched the nationwide talent hunting programme titled 'Notun Kuri Sports' at Sylhet Stadium in Rikabi Bazar area.
Before leaving Sylhet for Dhaka, Tarique Rahman, also chairman of BNP, attended a workers meeting organized by local BNP at the Shilpakala Academy.
At the meeting, he exchanged pleasantries with party leaders and activists.
It was the first visit of Tarique Rahman in Sylhet after assuming office of the Prime Minister on February 17, 2026. The premier was accompanied by his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman during the tour.
