Women’s football team reaches Myanmar safely

DHAKA, June 25, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh national women’s football team, led by Afeida Khandaker, reached safely in Yangon today (Wednesday) to take part in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 (qualifiers) scheduled to be held from June 29 to July 5 in Yangon, Myanmar.

The team is currently staying at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel.

In the afternoon, the women’s booters took part in a light stretching session at the hotel gym to refresh and recover following the long journey from Dhaka to Bangkok and onward to Yangon, according to a message received here from Bangladesh Football Federation.

All players are doing well, in good spirits, and currently taking rest. The weather here is rainy—quite similar to Bangladesh. Despite the travel fatigue, the team looks fresh and focused, with everyone in good health and eager to begin preparations for the upcoming matches.

Bangladesh, which pitted in group C along with Bahrain, Turkmenistan and host Myanmar, will start their tournament campaign taking on Bahrain on June 29. The girls in red and green will play their remaining group matches against host Myanmar and Turkmenistan on July 2 and July 5 respectively.

All the matches will be held at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.
