DHAKA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahim went past compatriot Shakib Al Hasan as the highest wicket-taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) by a Bangladeshi bowler after a scintillating performance for his side Delhi Capitals on Saturday.
He claimed 3-33 in a match against Punjab Kings to lead his side to a six-wicket victory. The victory not only gave Delhi a winning end to the IPL after their aspiration to play the playoffs was ruined but also put Mustafizur Rahim into the record book.
The three wickets took his wicket-tally to 65, eclipsing Shakib Al Hasan's 63. Shakib who is no longer the part of IPL claimed those 63 wickets in 71 matches but Mustafizur played 60 matches to go past his senior teammate.
Mustafizur wasn't acquired by anyone else during the mega auction for this season but Delhi brought him in as a replacement for Australia's Mitchell Starc.
The Fizz, as he is adorable called, played just three games this season for Delhi, in which he took four wickets. His stint with Delhi in this season ended with this match.
Shakib, on the other hand, is playing for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His team will face off Quetta Gladiators in the final today.
