DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS)-Visiting South Africa Emerging team made a strong reply to Bangladesh counterpart after bowling out the hosts for 308 in the first innings of the first four-day game at Bir Shrestha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram today.
At stumps on Day 2, South Africa reached 149-3 with George Marthinus Van Heerden batting on 46 and Onkgomoditse Richard Seletswane on 32 after adding 82 runs for the unbeaten fourth wicket stand.
Their stand basically gave South Africa the stranglehold of the match after they were reduced to a precarious 67-3.
Ripon Mondol who ended with 2-26, gave South Africa the initial blow before Marthinus and Richard Seletswane helped the side from the patchy start.
Resuming the day at 233-4, Bangladesh Emerging team earlier lost the last six wickets for 75 runs to be all out for 308.
Skipper Shahadat Hossain Dipu who started the day with 42, was able to add just 2 runs to his overnight total to be out on 44. His dismissal sparked the collapse, something which no one could resist.
No.11 batter Ripon Mondol later put up some resistance and made 26, which was instrumental to propel the side past 300 runs total.
