DHAKA, Aug 12, 2026 (BSS) - The government is set to take its digital justice drive a step further by rolling out the 'e-Bail Bond' system in 12 more districts tomorrow, building on its success in making the bail process faster, more transparent and less cumbersome.
 
The expansion is expected to further reduce delays and procedural bottlenecks while easing the burden on courts, lawyers and litigants.
 
"The initiative to introduce the 'e-Bail Bond' system in place of the conventional bail bond submission process was taken to modernise the justice system and reduce the sufferings of litigants. 

The landmark initiative is expected to save time and costs for all stakeholders, including litigants, prison authorities and lawyers. The system has already been successfully rolled out in three phases in 16 districts across the country," Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry's Senior Information Officer Dr Md Rezaul Karim told BSS.
 
The government is going to launch the system in Tangail, Kishoreganj, Munshiganj, Cox's Bazar, Chandpur, Rangamati, Sirajganj, Bagerhat, Patuakhali, Habiganj, Thakurgaon and Jamalpur districts.
 
Karim said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman, as on earlier occasions, is scheduled to launch the activities through a virtual function from his secretariat office.
 
The system was first introduced in Narayanganj on October 15, 2025, addressing long-standing delays and bureaucratic hurdles that traditionally hampered bail procedures.
 
In the second phase, it was rolled out on January 21, 2026, in Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi and Sherpur districts, further expanding its reach. The system was launched in Bogura, Jhenaidah, Jashore, Magura, Rajshahi, Natore and Kushtia districts in the third phase.
 
"Earlier, completing a bail bond required going through 13 manual steps from the court to the jail. With the 'e-Bail Bond' system, the process is now completed in just three main steps, significantly speeding up bail proceedings," Joint Secretary (Admin-1) Md Azizul Haque told BSS recently.
 
The online bail bond submission system has also significantly reduced harassment by middlemen while enabling the quick release of accused persons.
 
"Officials of the ministry are working on a plan to gradually implement the 
digital bail bond submission system nationwide," Additional Secretary Md 
Khadem Ul Kayes said.
