DMP arrests 3,287 in 10-day special drives across the capital 

DHAKA, July 10, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 3,287 people during the last 10-day long special drives conducted across different areas of the capital as part of its efforts to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

According to a DMP press release, the special operations were carried out by various units of the metropolitan police from July 1 to 10.

Of them, 311 were arrested by the Ramna Division, 204 by the Lalbagh Division, 388 by the Wari Division, 378 by the Motijheel Division, 501 by the Tejgaon Division, 741 by the Mirpur Division, 312 by the Gulshan Division, 414 by the Uttara Division, 36 by the Detective Branch (DB) and two by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit. 

Talking to BSS, Assistant Commissioner of media and public relations division under the DMP Arifa Akhtar Prity said the DMP’s various divisions have been carrying out anti- crime operations across the city to bring law and order under control.

She said that the DMP conducted drives to strengthen public security and maintain a stable law-and-order situation in the capital, adding, “Police arrested people who were allegedly involved in criminal activities like drug trafficking, narcotics-related crimes and other offences.”
Prity said that such special operations will continue in the future.

According to the DMP, during the drives, police seized cannabis, yaba tablets, heroin, phensydile syrups, liquor, illegal firearms local sharp and lethal weapons , knives, iron rods, hacksaw blades, laptops, mobile phones, SIM cards, private cars, trucks, ambulance, motorcycles, animals, vanity bags, scissors, stainless steel pipes, sticks, anti cutter, shooter machines, wood-cutting machines, grinding machines, stand fans and cash. 

Poliec also recovered crude cocktail bombs, auto-rickshaws, CNG-run vehicles, jeeps and rescued some victims from possessions of the arrested individuals, the DMP information said.

Police produced the arrestees before the court following legal procedure.
