RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - Rabiul Islam completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in Political Science at Rajshahi University.
After finishing his studies, he prepared for government jobs. He sat for 14 job interviews, but luck was not on his side.
He then returned to his village home and started teaching at a private high school.
After teaching for a year, he borrowed Tk 2.40 lakh from his sister in 2020 and started fish farming in ponds. This time, luck finally smiled on him and he never had to look back.
In 2021, he leased nine ponds-both small and large, including government and privately owned ones. Alongside fish farming, he also started a chicken farm and cattle and buffalo farms.
At present, combining his fish ponds, cattle and buffalo farms, and chicken farm, his total capital is approximately Tk 70 lakh.
Rabiul Islam is the third son of late freedom fighter Riazul Islam of Dwipganj village under Bilashbari Union in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district.
During an on-site visit, it was found that his cattle and buffalo farm has 14 pregnant Friesian cows. There are five milking cows, producing nearly two maunds of milk daily. He also has nine buffaloes aged around two and a half years. Currently, he operates five ponds covering a total area of about 30 bighas. His chicken farm has a capacity of around 2,000 birds.
Besides, a poultry shed with a capacity of 4,000 birds is under construction. Alongside this, he runs a veterinary medicine shop at Dwipganj market, where he sells feed and medicines for cattle, buffalo, poultry and fish. Currently, seven employees work in his integrated projects.
Entrepreneur Rabiul Islam said, "I tried hard for a job. After passing written exams, I appeared in oral exams for 14 government jobs, but I did not get any. Finally, in 2019, I returned to my village home and started pond farming with Tk 2.40 lakh borrowed from my sister. Combining ponds, poultry, cattle and buffalo farming, and veterinary medicine business, my current capital is about Tk 70 lakh."
He added, "To become an entrepreneur, the most important things are love for the work and patience. If you work with love and patience, success will definitely come. There have been many ups and downs in my projects, but I never gave up. I worked hard out of love for the work. Allah has granted me success."
His advice to new entrepreneurs is: "Before becoming an entrepreneur, one must acquire proper knowledge about the field. It is important to understand production processes, costs, and marketing. Work should be started with adequate knowledge. If you work with love and patience, InshaAllah, success will come."
