RAJSHAHI, Sept 7, 2026 (BSS)- Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) has asked officials to bring all Barind region under irrigation
No land in the Barind region will remains uncultivated due to lack of water, Executive Director Jahangir Alam Khan said during a field-level visit on Sunday.
he also asked the field-level officials and employees to remain vigilant to ensure that farmers are not harassed while availing irrigation facilities.
He exchanged views with the officers and employees, asking them to go to field visit to learn about the farmers' problems and take initiatives for their quick solution.
He said the main goal of BMDA is to provide maximum service to farmers. No land in the Barind region should remain fallow due to lack of water.
He also asked for preventing wastage of water and modernizing irrigation management to ensure optimum use of water resources.
He informed the officials about the plan for gradually bringing BMDA's deep tube wells under solar power to reduce dependence on fuel and electricity.
Field-level officers raised various problems including manpower shortage, maintenance of irrigation equipment, electricity and fuel costs, and infrastructural limitations.
He gave a patient hearing to them and assured them of taking necessary steps to solve those problems gradually.
