DHAKA, Sept 5, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 434 people during the last 24 hours in separate anti-crime operations across the capital, while 44 cases were filed.
According to a DMP press release, the arrests were made by different DMP divisions. Mirpur division recorded the highest number of arrests with 136, followed by Motijheel and Tejgaon with 59 each.
Wari division arrested 42 people, while Gulshan and Uttara arrested 36 each. Lalbag arrested 33, Ramna 26 and the Detective Branch (DB) seven.
During the operations, police recovered a foreign-made revolver and two rounds of ammunition.
They also seized 3,589 yaba tablets, 1.3 kilograms of cannabis, 9.4 grams of heroin, 100 tapentadol tablets and two buprenorphine injections.
Police also recovered Tk 1,540 in cash and rescued one victim during the raids.
The operations were conducted in different areas under the DMP jurisdiction as part of efforts to curb crime and drug-related offences in the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
