DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has directed that arrangements be made to provide medals and awards to teachers at the secondary and higher secondary levels in recognition of their good work in teaching and leadership development.
In an official letter published on its website today, DSHE instructed the heads of relevant educational institutions across the country to implement the directive.
The letter said the initiative was taken to improve the quality of education as part of the directives given by the Prime Minister during her inspection of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education on July 28.
DSHE has set specific criteria for evaluating teachers for recognition. These include educational qualifications, teaching experience, subject knowledge and dedication, proficiency in using teaching aids, expertise in preparing question papers and evaluating answer scripts, and skills in using technology in the classroom.
The evaluation will also consider teachers’ moral integrity, honesty, dress and appearance, ability to take on challenges, cooperative attitude toward students, parents and colleagues, involvement in textbook development and research publications, innovative initiatives for quality education, effective classroom management, and contribution to creating green and clean campuses.
DSHE has requested all regional directors, district education officers, and upazila and thana secondary education officers to conduct overall monitoring and take necessary measures to implement the decision.
