DHAKA, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 416 people and filed 30 cases during its regular anti-crime operations across the capital over the past 24 hours.

The arrests were made by eight DMP divisions, with Mirpur recording the highest number at 125, followed by Tejgaon with 49 and Motijheel with 48, according to a DMP press release.

Police also seized 17 rounds of shotgun ammunition, three rounds of Chinese rifle ammunition, 5.18 kg of cannabis, 2,683 yaba tablets, 2.04 grams of yaba powder, nine mobile phones and Taka 280,490.

Police said a victim was also rescued during the operations conducted in different areas of the capital.

Legal proceedings against the arrested people were underway.
