DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) - The 'Hello DC' initiative, launched to take Dhaka district administration services to people's doorsteps, has drawn an encouraging response, with 2,091 people receiving services through applications, phone calls and WhatsApp in just one month.
According to the service report for the first month since its launch, a total of 944 applications were submitted through the platform, of which 742 were successfully processed. Besides, 1,349 people received services through phone calls and WhatsApp.
However, 117 applications were rejected due to incomplete information or errors in the applications. Overall, 2,091 people received services through 'Hello DC' app during the month, combining applications submitted through the app and services provided via phone calls and WhatsApp.
People seeking services have benefited from a wide range of assistance through the initiative, including appointments with the deputy commissioners, support for people with disabilities and the underprivileged, public hearings for expatriates, and services related to food adulteration and illegal
occupation of khas land.
Citizens are also helping the district administration to take action by sharing various information and lodging complaints.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka district administration has been carrying out various development and welfare activities through the 'Hello DC' app, including distributing 14 sewing machines at a time in Dohar, providing financial assistance to 15 underprivileged people in Dhamrai, extending support to a
Bede community and conducting cleanliness drives in Keraniganj.
"Our goal is to deliver government services to people's doorsteps. This technology-driven initiative will reduce citizens' time, costs and hassles. The 'Hello DC' app was launched to make the district administration more transparent, accountable and service-oriented," Dhaka Deputy Commissioner
Farida Khanom said.
Regarding the protection of citizens' information, JP Tech Chairman Murtaza Palash, the developer of the app, said, "We attach the highest importance to the security and privacy of information collected from citizens. There is no scope for unauthorised use or disclosure of any citizen's personal
information through the 'Hello DC' platform."
The Dhaka Deputy Commissioner's Office on July 21, 2026, launched the 'Hello DC' mobile app, enabling city residents to access a wide range of government services, submit applications, obtain information and lodge complaints through a single platform.
