KHULNA, Aug 22, 2026 (BSS) – Leaders of Khulna city and district units of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) greeted the veteran politician Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his assumption of office as the 23rd President of Bangladesh.

In a joint congratulatory message, Khulna city BNP leaders said Mirza Fakhrul had made outstanding contributions and sacrifices throughout his long political career in the struggle to restore democracy, establish the people’s lost voting rights and secure citizens’ rights.

They said his assumption of the country’s highest constitutional office was not merely an honour for an individual, but also a victory for the dreams and aspirations of democracy-loving people across the country.

They expressed the hope that his leadership, long political experience, integrity and farsightedness would further strengthen the country’s democratic process and contribute to consolidating the rule of law, human rights and good governance.

They wished the newly elected President a long life, good health and continued success.

Jatiya Sangsad Whip Rakibul Islam Bakul, Azizul Bari Helal, MP, Khulna city BNP President and Khulna Development Authority (KDA) Chairman Advocate ShafiqulAlam Mona, city BNP General Secretary and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director ShafiqulAlamTuhin were among others, who signed the message.

In a separate statement, Khulna district BNP Convener Md Moniruzzaman Montu and Member Secretary and Zila Parishad Administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappi, along with other district leaders, also congratulated the President.

They expressed confidence that his political experience and visionary leadership would contribute to improving law and order, protecting people’s rights and building a well-governed and prosperous Bangladesh.
