DHAKA, Aug 21, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 498 people were arrested and 47 cases filed in the past 24 hours as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted regular anti-crime operations across the capital.

According to a DMP press release, the arrests were made by different divisions of the metropolitan police.

Mirpur Division made the highest number of arrests with 131, followed by Wari Division with 91 and Uttara Division with 59.

Ramna Division arrested 36 people while Lalbagh Division 31, Motijheel Division 48, Tejgaon Division 51, Gulshan 45, Detective Branch (DB) four and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit two.

During the operations, police recovered two local pipe guns, two rounds of bullet, 39 rounds of Chinese rifle bullets, 10,287 yaba tablets, 1.50-kg of cannabis, 70 bottles of Phensedyl syrup, five mobile phone sets, a truck, a motorbike, Taka 4,99,870 and others.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, the release added.
