DHAKA, Aug 17, 2026 (BSS) - The Bomb Disposal Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has defused two unexploded pipe bombs recovered from the Demra area through a controlled explosion.

According to a DMP press release, two unexploded pipe bombs were recovered from Jewel alias Ostad, who was arrested from the Nijhumbag area of West Boxnagar under Demra Police Station around 8:30 pm on Sunday.

Later, members of the Bomb Disposal Unit rushed to the spot and safely neutralised the two bombs using detonating cord in a controlled explosion.

The bombs were successfully defused with necessary safety measures and with a high degree of professionalism and expertise. 

No casualties or property damage were reported in the incident.

Further legal action in connection with the incident is underway.
