DHAKA, July 26, 2026 (BSS) - A joint operation was conducted to evict illegal structures and shops from Suhrawardy Udyan in the city, involving the Public Works Department, Dhaka University, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).

The operation, led by Dhaka South City Corporation Executive Magistrate Mohammad Aminul Islam, cleared all illegal structures and shops that had been set up inside Suhrawardy Udyan this afternoon, said a press release here. 

During the drive, members of Dhaka University's Proctorial Body, Executive Engineer Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad of the Dhaka City Public Works Department and members of law enforcement agencies were present.

Concerned officials said such eviction drives will continue regularly in the future in the public interest and to preserve the natural environment of Suhrawardy Udyan.
