DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) - During special drives conducted across the city in June, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 2,314 people allegedly involved in various crimes.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division said here today that various units of the DMP conducted the month-long drives in June, according to a press release.

Among those arrested, 71 were non-listed extortionists, he said.

Police also arrested 797 people on charges related to terrorism, hijacking and robbery, and 1,446 others for alleged drug trafficking, the release added.

Police said such drives will continue to maintain public safety and law and order.
