DINAJPUR, May 25, 2026 (BSS) - Import and export activities through the Hili Land Port in Dinajpur have been suspended for seven days from Sunday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The decision was confirmed by President of the Hili Land Port Import and Export Agents Association, Md. Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi, as he spoke to BSS on Monday morning.
According to a notification signed by Md. Shahinur Islam, General Secretary of the Hili Customs C&F Agents Association, all import and export operations at the port will remain closed from May 25 to May 31.
The decision was taken during a meeting held on Saturday evening with leaders of different organizations operating at the port.
Sources at the port said Indian traders have already been informed about the temporary suspension through official correspondence. During the closure period, loading and unloading activities at the port’s private warehouse, Panama Port, will also remain suspended.
Normal commercial operations at the Hili Land Port are scheduled to resume on Monday, June 1.
However, movement of passport-holding passengers between Bangladesh and India through the Hili Immigration Check post will continue as usual.
Officer-in-Charge of Hili Immigration Check post, Md. Ariful Islam, said immigration services will remain operational throughout the week despite the suspension of commercial activities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Hili Land Customs Station Santosh Soren said customs activities would continue except on government holidays. He added that traders would still be able to clear goods after paying the required customs duties and taxes.
