DHAKA, May 23, 2026 (BSS) –The government has called upon all concerned to urgently register unlisted waqf properties with the Office of the Waqf Administrator to ensure proper management and prevent illegal occupation.
A public notice issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs said registration of all waqf properties across the country — including mosques, madrasahs, eidgahs, graveyards, imambaras, khankas and majar-sharifs — is mandatory under Section 47 of the Waqf Ordinance, 1962.
The notice said many waqf estates in the country still remain outside official registration.
To ensure proper administration, management and protection of waqf properties from encroachment, the ministry urged the authorities concerned to complete registration of all unlisted waqf estates on an emergency basis.
Application forms, lists of required documents and detailed guidelines for registration are available free of cost on the website of the Bangladesh Waqf Administration (www.waqf.gov.bd) and at all waqf inspectors’ offices and at deputy commissioners’ offices across the country, the notice added.
