DHAKA, May 21, 2026 (BSS) - Rampura police today arrested a madrasha student from Bera upazila in Pabna district for his alleged involvement in a sexual violation of a madrasha student in city’s Banasree area.

A team of Rampura Thana, acting on a tip off, arrested Md Shihab Hossa(19) from Bera upazila of Pabna district at about 12.50am today for sexual violation of Md Abdullah, a student Alokito Quran International Hafez Madrasha at Banasree block-C. As a result of the incident, Abdullah committed suicide inside the madrasha at about 10 pm on Tuesday.

On hearing the news, a team of Rampura police rushed to the place of occurrence and found huge marks of abnormal external and internal injuries in the body of Abdullah due to sexual violations while they were making investigation report of the body.

Police later, investigated the incident and questioned some people of the madrasha and came to know that the arrested youth, also a student of the same madrasha, was involved in many other sexual violation cases in the madrasha.

Mosammat Tuku Ara Khatun, mother of Abdullah later filed a case with Rampura Thana in connection with the sexual violation that forced the victim to commit suicide.

The arrested Madrasha student was sent to the court for taking further legal actions.
