DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - The government has reconstituted the Press Accreditation Appeal Committee, appointing information and broadcasting secretary as its chairperson, said a notification issued recently.

Principal Information Officer (PIO) Syed Abdal Ahmed will serve as the member secretary of the committee.

Other members included Prime Minister’s Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly, Bangladesh Press Council Secretary Md Abdus Sabur, Daily Jugantor editor Abdul Hye Sikder, Independent Television Chief News Editor Akmal Hossain, and Daily Times of Bangladesh Advisory Editor Elias Uddin Khan.

The notification also stated previous committee formed through a memorandum dated October 28 has hereby been cancelled.

Regarding the committee’s responsibilities, it stated that anyone aggrieved by a decision of Press Accreditation Committee may file an appeal with the committee.

The notification further said that the committee will dispose of appeals within 30 days of receiving an application.
