DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today recommended in principle the implementation of the “Operation and Maintenance of Dhirasram Inland Container Depot (ICD) under PPP modality” project under PPP, aiming to strengthen the country’s container handling and logistics management system.

The recommendation came at the 14th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

Cabinet Division officials said the proposal was placed by the Railways Ministry.

The meeting discussed and thus recommended a total of three proposals, including one from the Railways Ministry and two from the Food Ministry.

In another decision, the committee recommended policy approval for wheat import under the government-to-government (G2G) arrangement in accordance with Section 68(1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2006 and Rule 99(2) of the Public Procurement Rules (PPR), 2025.

The committee also recommended shortening the procurement processing time through international open tendering by applying Rule 102(1)(Ka) of the PPR, 2025.

The proposal was submitted by the Food Ministry.

Besides, the committee recommended approval in principle for rice import under the G2G arrangement under the same provisions of the Public Procurement Act and PPR.

It also endorsed the proposal to reduce the procurement processing time through international tendering by applying Rule 102(1)(Ka) of the PPR, 2025.

The proposal was also placed by the Food Ministry.
