CHATTOGRAM, May 18, 2026 (BSS)- Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has issued a ban on all public gatherings, processions, and meetings in the main road and surrounding areas from the GEC intersection to Dewanhat in the city. 
 
CMP Commissioner Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali imposed the ban today.

The notice stated that the decision was made under the authority given in the Section 30 of the CMP Ordinance, 1978 to maintain peace, order, and public safety. 

The ban will be effective from May 18 to until further notice. it said adding that legal action will be taken against any violation.
