DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) - The National Legal Aid Services Organisation (NLASO) has provided legal assistance in 3,400 cases through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, according to a report published on the organisation’s website.

The report presented the detailed information on legal aid services provided from 2009 to April 2026 under the government-funded legal aid program, official said here today.

It said that, during the period, legal assistances were provided in 4, 58,108 cases through the legal aid offices in 64 districts and in 4,640 cases through the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. Altogether, legal aid was extended in 4,66,148 cases across the country.

In addition, legal consultation services were provided to 5, 74,278 people at government expense.
According to the report, 27,167 people received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 3,20,753 people were assisted through district legal aid offices and 22,153 people through the labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.

The report also noted that 2, 04,205 people received legal advice through the national legal aid helpline call centre (toll-free number 16699).

The services are being provided under the Legal Aid Services Act for financially insolvent and disadvantaged justice seekers across the country.

The NLASO is operated under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs since 2009.
