DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) -Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) held a coordination meeting today to discuss overall security and traffic management preparations ahead of the upcoming holy festival Eid-ul-Azha celebrations in the capital.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the DMP Headquarters at this morning, chaired by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, according to a press release.
Addressing the meeting, the DMP Commissioner said the state and the city belong to everyone, and all citizens must play responsible roles from their respective positions to keep the city functional and secure.
He said special police drives against extortionists, muggers, and drug traffickers are currently underway.
Ahmed also stressed that overcrowding on launches during Eid travel would not be allowed and urged the concerned authorities to avoid road excavation works during the Eid period.
He called upon all government agencies to work in coordination to ensure safe and hassle-free Eid journeys for people.
Representatives from various intelligence agencies, specialized police units, the Department of Shipping, transport owners' and workers' associations, garment sector bodies, city corporations, Fire Service and Civil Defence, BIWTA, Roads and Highways Department, and other public and private service organizations attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the session, DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan through a PowerPoint presentation.
Representatives from different organizations later took part in an open discussion and shared their opinions and recommendations.
Among others present were Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S N Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Commissioner (CTTC) Md Masud Karim, Additional Commissioner (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam, Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahma, along with other senior police officials and representatives of relevant organizations.
