DHAKA, May 18, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today ordered the seizure of the tax files of former Member of Parliament (MP) from Rajshahi-4 constituency, Md Enamul Haque, and his wife, Tohura Haque.

Dhaka Metropolitan Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC has filed a case against former MP Md Enamul Haque and his wife Tohura Haque on April 30, 2025, over allegations of acquiring illegal wealth and suspicious financial transactions.

In his case statement, Enamul Haque is accused of acquiring Taka 23.27 crore in assets beyond known sources of income during his tenure as ,MP, along with suspicious transactions of Taka 22.15 crore through 22 bank accounts in his name and in the name of his institutions. 

The ACC also alleged that Tohura Haque acquired Taka 7.95 crore in illegal assets by abusing the influence of her husband and conducted suspicious transactions involving deposits of Taka 1.72 crore and withdrawals of Taka 1.67 crore between 2020 and 2024.

It further stated that Enamul Haque, as a public servant, facilitated his wife’s acquisition of illegal assets through abuse of power, making him liable under the Penal Code and anti-corruption laws.

For the purpose of investigation, the court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of both Enamul Haque and his wife covering the tax years from 2008-2009 to 2024-2025.
