RAJSHAHI, May 15, 2026 (BSS)- To improve the quality of internet service in the Rajshahi region the ISPAB-NIX Regional PoP has been launched.

Internet service providers said through this initiative, internet speed and quality in the Rajshahi Division will improve.

As well, dependence on foreign bandwidth will decrease, and data exchange at the local level will become faster and easier.

 
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu inaugurated the regional PoP at a function held at a city hotel here today.

Addressing the event the Land Minister said, “The government has a master plan for overall development of Rajshahi including the IT sector. 

The NIX regional PoP will create new momentum for digital transformation of Rajshahi, he said adding that an integrated plan has also been taken for installing internet to make Rajshahi a complete ‘Internet City’.

It was announced at the event that this regional PoP has created the capacity to handle around 400 Gbps of traffic, which will be increased further in the future.

President of ISPAB’s Divisional Committee Shahidul Islam presided over the function. Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation Mahfuzur Rahman, Director General of BTRC Brigadier General Shafiul Azam Parvez and ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan also spoke on the occasion while ISPAB Treasurer Moin Uddin Ahmed presented the keynote paper.
  
ISPAB General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan called for implementing an integrated connection model similar to Dhaka’s Dhanmondi to move Rajshahi’s overhead cables underground. 

ISPAB Treasurer Moin Uddin Ahmed said, ISPAB-NIX started its journey in 2022 with 34 Gbps bandwidth, and now it has been upgraded to 400 Gbps.
 
Stakeholders believe that with the launch of this regional PoP, uninterrupted, high-speed, and reliable internet service will be ensured in the Rajshahi region.
