DINAJPUR, May 14, 2026 (BSS) –Corrugated iron sheets and cash assistance were distributed today among families affected by a recent fire in Birganj upazila of the district.

Acting on the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government provided Taka 6,000 as cash and two bundles of corrugated tin to each of the 10 affected families during a distribution ceremony held at the Birganj Upazila Parishad premises around 3:30 pm.

Member of Parliament for Dinajpur-1 Md. Manjurul Islam attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the affected families, he said the current BNP government is committed to the welfare of the people and is working to help compensate victims for losses caused by disasters.

“Today, we handed over corrugated tin and cash assistance sent from the Prime Minister’s Office as a gift. We will continue to stand beside you with such support in the future,” he said.

Among others, present at the ceremony were Birganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Suma Khatun, Upazila Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Saiful Islam, and other local dignitaries.
