Bodies of 5 Bangladeshis to arrive from Qatar tomorrow

DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - The bodies of five Bangladeshi expatriates killed in a road accident in Qatar's Shahaniya area will arrive in Sylhet tomorrow.

The Wage Earners' Welfare Board provided the financial support to bring the bodies home, said a press release today signed by Mohammad Mashhudul Kabir, Counsellor (Labour) at the Labour Welfare Wing of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Doha, Qatar

The release said that the five Bangladeshi expatriates from Sylhet’s Kanaighat upazila were killed in a road accident in Qatar’s Shahaniya area on Sunday (June 21) morning.

The deceased are- Abdul Kadir of Gachbari village, Mustak Ahmed Afnan of Majhataluk village, Jubayer Ahmed of the same village, Jasim Uddin of Agataluk village, and Jibal Ahmed of Amarpur village.

The Labour Welfare Wing informed that the bodies will be sent to Bangladesh on Monday (June 29) at 10:15 PM (local Qatar time) via Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-226 from Hamad International Airport. 

The flight is expected to arrive at Sylhet MAG Osmani International Airport on Tuesday (June 30) at 6:50 AM.

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has said that the concerned ministry branch is actively processing the proper documentation and protocols required to release and hand over the bodies to their respective families.
