DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police on Tuesday arrested a suspected accused of Nazmul murder case of Gabtoli Thana in Bogura district.

The arrested person was identified as Md Zahid Hassan alias Uzzwal, 32, son of Md Abdur Rashid of Hatibandha Paschimpara under Gabtoli upazila of Bogura district.

A team of CID police, based on intelligence information and technological support, raided Hatibandha bazaar area and arrested Uzzwal. 

Police said, arrested Uzzwal along with his accomplices kidnapped Md Nazmul Islam of the same area on October 20 in 2023 when he went out from home to hire an auto-rickshaw to take her ailing wife. The killers left the body of Nazmul in a paddy field of the area after killing him. 

Uzzwal and his accomplices killed Nazmul following a dispute over a conciliation meeting in connection with a rape case filed by his cousin, CID sources added.
A case was initially filed with Gabtoli in connection with the murder that was later shifted to the CID Bogura unit. 

Police produced Uzzwal before a local court with remand prayer for finding out the other suspects involved in the killing.
