DHAKA, May 13, 2026 (BSS) – Bangladesh and South Korea have taken a significant step toward strengthening semiconductor cooperation through the signing of a strategic collaboration framework focused on research, commercialization, advanced packaging and talent development.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed today among the KAIST Global Commercialization Centre, CREST and the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association during the ongoing Bangladesh Semiconductor Roadshow in Seoul, said a press release here.
The agreement aims to establish long-term collaboration in semiconductor research, startup ecosystem development, AI semiconductor systems, commercialization, advanced packaging technologies and industry-academia integration between Bangladesh and South Korea.
BSIA President M A Jabbar described the agreement as a carefully designed alignment between research, commercialization and ecosystem integration, emphasizing that sustainable semiconductor ecosystems require strong connections between innovation and practical deployment.
Professor Muhammad Mustafa Hussain of Purdue University highlighted the importance of integrating semiconductor research, advanced packaging, AI-centric systems, commercialization and scalable talent development into a unified ecosystem framework.
He said Bangladesh’s semiconductor strategy is fundamentally innovation-driven and focused on developing globally relevant applications, products and engineering capabilities.
The signing ceremony marked a major milestone of the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association’s South Korea Roadshow, which seeks to advance Bangladesh’s long-term Silicon River vision through international collaboration and deep-tech ecosystem development.
BSIA noted that the collaboration framework would help strengthen pathways for joint research, commercialization and workforce development while connecting Bangladesh more closely with global semiconductor innovation networks.
The association also said that CREST, within less than six months of its launch, has already established collaborative engagements with institutions including National University of Singapore, the Taiwan Institute of Semiconductor Research, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and KAIST.
The participating BSIA member companies included Dynamic Solution Innovators, iTest Bangladesh Ltd., Neural Semiconductor Ltd., Prime Silicon Technology Limited, Siliconova Ltd. and Ulkasemi Private Limited.
BSIA noted that the South Korea Roadshow reflects Bangladesh’s broader strategy to build a globally connected deep-tech ecosystem through innovation, commercialization, advanced packaging, talent development and long-term international cooperation.
