CHATTOGRAM, April 29, 2026 (BSS): The plaintiff in the high-profile murder case of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, a member of the Chattogram District Bar Association, is currently being interrogated.

Today, Wednesday (April 29), lawyers representing the accused questioned Jamal Uddin in the court of Judge Md. Zahidul Haque of the Chattogram Speedy Trial Tribunal.

Chinmoy Krishna Das appeared virtually in the hearing, while the other accused were present in court. The plaintiff's lawyer and the court's assistant public prosecutor, Advocate Md. Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, expressed concern that the interrogation of the plaintiff's father, which was supposed to be completed by now, has been delayed multiple times at the request of the accused Chinmoy Krishna Das. Despite the scheduled completion date being today, the accused's lawyer requested more time, which the court granted, setting a new date for April 20.

The interrogation of accused Dev, Sukanta, and Vidhan has been completed.

On November 26, 2024, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was beaten and hacked to death in a clash over the bail of Sanatani Jagran Jote spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das in the Chattogram court building area. Following the incident, his father Jamal Uddin filed a murder case with the city's Kotwali police station, naming 31 people as suspects.

On June 1, 2025, the investigation officer of the case, Assistant Police Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman, submitted a charge sheet in the Alif murder case. The charge sheet accused 38 people, including Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.

The court accepted the charge sheet against 39 people, including Sukanta Dutta, after a hearing on August 25 in the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin Mahmud.

Initially, the case was filed against 31 individuals, but the investigation officer later requested to exempt some of them as their involvement was not found. However, after discovering the involvement of 10 more individuals, including Chinmoy Krishna Das, the court accepted the charge sheet against 39 accused, including Chinmoy Das Brahmachari, on August 25 of the previous year in the presence of the plaintiff.
