DHAKA, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed former DGFI director Afzal Naser on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Mahmudul Hasan in the Uttara area during July uprising.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order after police produced Naser before the court upon completion of his two-day remand in the case and pleaded for another seven-day remand.
The same court on April 27 placed him on a two-day remand, while on April 23, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah placed him on a four-day remand in the case.
A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Afzal Naser from his residence in Mirpur DOHS on March 30, 2026.
According to the case documents, Mahmudul Hasan sustained bullet injuries during a student procession in the Azampur area of Uttara on August 5, 2024. He was taken to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, where he later died.
The murder case was filed with the Uttara East Police Station on September 26, 2024.
