KHULNA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju today said a nationwide cleanliness campaign has been launched following the announcement of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, with similar initiatives already underway across Khulna city.
He said that alongside routine activities, area-based special cleanliness drives are being conducted every Saturday.
The KCC administrator was addressing the programme as the chief guest at the inauguration of a cleanliness drive at Khulna Medical College campus today. The programme was launched by the college authorities as part of efforts to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases.
Seeking cooperation from city residents, he said people from all districts of the division come to the hospital for treatment, making it essential to maintain a clean and healthy environment, although the measles situation in Khulna is relatively better. He also urged physicians to take advance initiatives to tackle measles in the city.
Manju also stressed the importance of planting more trees in open spaces within the college and hospital premises.
Presided over by Principal Prof Dr Golam Masud, others who addressed the programme included KCC Administrative Officer Molla Maruf Rashid, Estate Officer Gazi Salauddin, and Senior License Officer Md Moniruzzaman Rahim. Teachers and students of the medical college were present.
Vice-Principal Dr Md Amanul Islam delivered the welcome speech, while Dr Md Akramuzzaman moderated the event.
