BARISHAL, March 6, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Shipping and Bridges Md. Razib Ahsan today urged physicians to perform their duties with integrity, professionalism and sincerity to ensure that healthcare services reach the doorsteps of the common people, fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision.

The state minister made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing an iftar mahfil, hosted by the Doctors' Association of Bangladesh (DAB), Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (SBMC) unit, at the Barishal Club auditorium this afternoon.

"The behavior, personality and honesty of doctors are paramount. You must serve the people with such dedication that the dream of a healthy nation becomes a reality," said Razib Ahsan.

Highlighting the importance of unity and professional excellence, he added, "During the long 17 years of struggle, your numbers may not have been vast, but numbers alone cannot win the battles ahead. You must attract and inspire other physicians toward the ideology of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) through your conduct and commitment to the medical profession."

The State Minister also urged doctors to reflect on their public image.

"Evaluate what people think of you. If you can earn the love and trust of your patients through your service, your life will not only be successful here but also rewarded by the Almighty in the hereafter," he added.

Addressing the shortage of medical professionals in rural areas, he noted that doctors are often reluctant to serve in remote parts of the Barishal division. He requested the physician community to ensure their presence and proper service delivery in districts like Bhola, Patuakhali and Barguna to support the local population.

President of DAB SBMC unit Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam Selim chaired the event. A special prayer was offered at the conclusion of the event, seeking the eternal peace of the soul of Begum Khaleda Zia.
