CHATTOGRAM, Feb 9, 2026 (BSS) – BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that, if elected to power, Chattogram would be developed as a regional logistics hub, capitalising on the potential of Chattogram’s seaport, airport, maritime territory, and coastal belts.
Amir Khasru, who is contesting as the BNP candidate from the Ctg-11 (Bandar-Patenga) constituency, made the remarks at a press conference at the fag end of hectic electioneering to highlight his pre-election promises, titled “Eleven for Eleven,” and to discuss the overall situation ahead of the February 12 polls.
Eleven election pledges for the Ctg-11 constituency were elaborated at the press conference held at his Mehdibagh residence this morning.
“My ‘Eleven for Eleven’ promises for the people of my constituency are not mere rhetoric, but pragmatic programs designed after evaluating their requirements. I am committed to fulfilling my pledges,” he said.
He added that the people of Bangladesh will continue to place their trust in BNP to rebuild the country’s future, as they have repeatedly done during critical and transitional periods in the nation’s history.
“BNP’s victory is becoming evident again in this transitional period of the country, as the party has proven its capability to overcome crises in the past,” he said confidently, adding that people will not accept any attempt to manipulate the upcoming election or seize power behind closed doors.
Referring to various misleading and suspicious activities circulating on social media—such as rubber-stamping, Borka, NID collection, and payments to voters through bKash—Amir Khasru called upon all to remain vigilant against any plot to disrupt the democratic process and manipulate election results.
Khasru’s pre-election promises, titled “Eleven for Eleven,” include: establishing a 1,200-bed full-fledged public hospital; implementing comprehensive youth development programs through technical and vocational education; adopting a zero-tolerance policy to improve law and order; addressing problems such as safe drinking water, traffic congestion, waterlogging, environmental and air pollution; constructing sustainable road infrastructure; modernizing the port; introducing coordinated and digitalized citizen services; and transforming Chattogram into a planned, modern metropolis in coordination with public and private organizations.
Members of the BNP’s International Affairs Sub-Committee Israfil Khasru, city BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, former city unit secretary Abul Hashem Bakkar, former vice president M A Aziz, joint convener SM Saiful Alam, and former CCC ward councillor Shah Alam, among others, were present at the event.
