RAJSHAHI, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS)- Former Rajshahi City Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu today said, “I stood by the people of Rajshahi in the past, I am with them now, and I will remain with them in the future. I have never compromised, and will never compromise, on the interests of the people of Rajshahi,”
BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate for Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) in the 13th National Parliamentary Election Minu also said politics means going to the people, listening to them, and staying on the ground to resolve their problems.
He made these remarks today while engaging in door-to-door outreach, election campaigning, and an exchange of views with local residents in support of the Sheaf of Paddy symbol at Beldarpara intersection in the city.
Mijanur Rahman Minu said although Rajshahi is a city with great potential, its residents have long been deprived of many civic facilities due to mismanagement and lack of planning.
Effective initiatives are urgently needed in fundamental areas such as roads, drainage systems, safe drinking water, healthcare, and employment.
“If Allah grants me the opportunity, all basic rights of the city’s residents will be ensured,” he said.
During the outreach, local residents raised various issues, including water logging, dilapidated roads, lack of drain cleaning, drug abuse, the menace of juvenile gangs, and the shortage of employment opportunities for youths. Minu listened attentively to these concerns and took notes.
Addressing the residents, he said, “Every one of your problems is important to me. I will not only listen but will also work, in coordination with the relevant departments and authorities, to ensure practical solutions.”
Calling on the youth, he said that Rajshahi’s future development depends on a conscious and responsible younger generation.
He urged them to stay away from drugs and crime and to engage in education, sports, and social service.
