CUMILLA, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS)- National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif
Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has vowed to prevent any attempts to seize control of
local centers in Muradnagar, urging residents to vote for Yusuf Sohel to
ensure development and protect the honor of women while curbing extortionist
practices.

He made the remarks this morning while addressing a road show organised by
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at Kompaniganj market in Muradnagar upazila here.

Asif Mahmud said, "Muradnagar is my birthplace. Wherever I am in Bangladesh,
welfare of the upazila and its people remains close to my heart. Last year,
we worked for Muradnagar, which has long been deprived of development and
subjected to inequality. Sadly, some representatives opposed necessary
budgets for its development. Should you [the people of Muradnagar] elect
those who do not want progress?"

He recalled the influence of local gangs, saying, "There used to be some
powerful forces in Muradnagar, with members nicknamed Terminal So-and-so and
Pistol So-and-so. Such dominance will no longer exist. The people must be
able to vote fearlessly."

Assuring support from the 11-party alliance, Asif added, "If you elect us,
Bangura Bazar will be upgraded to an upazila. Muradnagar's people will no
longer face deprivation. Ensure victory for the 'Yes' vote in the general
polls."

Cumilla North District Jamaat Secretary Saiful Islam Shahid urged voters to
reject dual citizens as parliamentary representatives and back the 11-party
alliance candidate Yusuf Hakim. "Vote for 'Yes' and ensure the establishment
of a just Bangladesh when the alliance comes to power," he added.

Yusuf Sohel, 11-party alliance candidate for Comilla-3 [Muradnagar]
constituency, appealed to voters to oppose "Indian dominance, extortionists,
and stone-throwers" in the upcoming election.
