COX’S BAZAR, Jan 28, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today expressed hope that the party will achieve a landslide victory in the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled for February 12.
“With overwhelming public support and the spirit of national unity, BNP will form the next government — one that belongs to all citizens,” he said, adding that people will regain ownership of the state through the February 12 election.
He made the remarks while addressing separate election rallies at the BMS High School ground and surrounding areas in Chakaria upazila this morning.
“You (people) will cast your own vote for whomever you wish… You will strengthen democracy,” he said, adding, “We want a Bangladesh where we will never again hear that someone has been forcibly disappeared, where no mother has to suffer the pain of losing her child.”
Salahuddin Ahmed said that if people like the BNP’s programs, plans, and vision for the state, they will surely vote for the BNP.
“We believe that other political parties contesting the election will also present their programmes and plans. If people like them, they will vote accordingly. This is the beauty of democracy, and this is how it should be,” he added.
He further warned that people should be cautious of any party that, instead of presenting concrete programmes and plans, misleads voters by claiming they will attain heaven if they vote for it.
Mentioning that his life had once been put at risk while struggling for democracy, he said, “We had lost democracy. No one could speak freely. People could not exercise their voting rights. This time, people will be able to vote freely and cast their ballots for their preferred candidates.”
Among others, District BNP Office Secretary Yusuf Badri, Matamuhuri Upazila BNP President Jamil Ibrahim Chowdhury, General Secretary Hefazatur Rahman Tipu, Organizational Secretary Shoaibul Islam Sobuj, and many other leaders addressed the rallies.
