DHAKA, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS)- BNP Chairman's Adviser and Chief Coordinator of the Dhaka-17 constituency election campaign Abdus Salam today said that the upcoming election on the February 12 is extremely important.
"It’s not important just because our Chairman Tarique Rahman is contesting the election. It is important for BNP leaders and activists as well. For the last 17 years, they have endured immense hardship and worked tirelessly to establish people's voting rights. They have faced cases, attacks, imprisonment, and oppression. Now, the time has come for everyone to unite and establish democracy in the country," he said.
Salam made the remarks during a discussion with party activists as part of the election campaign at the Dhaka-17 constituency in Banani.
Highlighting Tarique Rahman's promises, he said, "BNP is committed to provide homes to homeless people and healthcare services for poor. BNP will also arrange training and job for youths.”
"If BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman wins from this constituency, Korail slum dwellers will get homes, playground, hospitals, and schools. Insha’Allah, all the demands of the local residents will be fulfilled,” he added.
The BNP leader said, BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia had executed their promises what they committed before the people. Their son Tarique Rahman will also fulfill his promises, Insha’Allah."
He called upon the leaders and activists of all BNP affiliated organizations, including the Chatro Dal, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Mohila Dal, Krishak Dal, and Sramik Dal to remain united.
