MEHERPUR, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) - The 'Vote Rickshaw' awareness campaign was launched in the district today to encourage public participation in the upcoming 13th national election and referendum.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Syed Enamul Kabir inaugurated the campaign around 10:30am at the premises of his office.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by District Information Officer Abdullah Al Mamun. District Election Officer Md. Enamul Haque, Civil Surgeon Dr. AKM Abu Sayed, District Primary Education Officer Sukumar Roy, among others, addressed the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Syed Enamul Kabir said the 13th national parliament election and referendum are scheduled to be held on February 12. As part of the nationwide referendum awareness initiative, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched the Vote Rickshaw campaign in collaboration with the Department of Mass Communication.

He said the campaign will begin operating from Wednesday across the district's three upazilas with the aim of raising public awareness and motivating voters to participate in the referendum.

Through the campaign, voters will be informed about the significance of the referendum, including the potential benefits of voting 'yes' and the consequences of voting 'no'. The campaign will reach villages, markets, educational institutions and residential areas across the district.
