CHATOGRAM, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS)- Following the completion of all legal procedures, the tribunal has designated January 19 for the framing charge in advocate Saiful Islam Alif murder.
 
Judge Md. Zahidul Haque of the Chattogram Speedy Trial Tribunal issued the order today.

Lawyers of the plaintiff said the trial court has received the case documents of the advocate Saiful Islam Alif murder case. Among the 23 defendants in, 22 were present in the courtroom at that time. Chinmoy Krishna Das was not presented in court due to security concerns and other considerations.

The charge will be formally presented in the presence of the accused on January 19. Currently, 16 individuals implicated in this case remain at large.
 
On November 26, 2024, advocate Saiful Islam Alif, a member of Chttagram Bar was assaulted and fatally wounded during a confrontation in the court area.
 
Following this incident, his father, Jamal Uddin filed the case with Kotwali police station naming 31 individuals. 

On June 1, 2025, the investigation officer Mahfuzur Rahman submitted charge sheet implicating 38 individuals, including Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson for the Sanatani Jagran Jote.
