BARISHAL, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - Civil society platform Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SHUJAN) Secretary Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar today said if politicians and nominated candidates of political parties behave responsibly, there will be no risk or fear regarding the upcoming national election.
He said this while delivering the keynote speech at a divisional dialogue titled “July Uprising: Aspirations, Reforms, and Election Manifesto” at the BDS auditorium on Sadar Road in the city.
SHUJAN’s Barishal District and Metropolitan units organized the event.
Majumdar said if the candidates can move away from the mindset of becoming an MP by any means, a free, fair, and neutral election will be ensured.
He said influence of black money must be eliminated as it criminalized both electoral and political arenas.
Describing irregularities in previous elections, he said over the past 16 years, citizens were deprived of their voting rights.
Candidates nominated by various political parties from the Barishal Division and members of the civil society were present at the dialogue.
