Three remanded, 1 confesses in Musabbir murder case

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today placed three accused on a seven-day remand each in a case lodged over the sensational murder of former general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Swecchasebak Dal's Dhaka North City Unit Md Azizur Rahman Musabbir.
 
The remanded accused are-- Md Billal, 29, Abdul Qadir, 28, and Md Riaz, 31.
 
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each in the case. 
 
Meanwhile, another accused, Jinnat, 24, gave a confessional statement before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque.
 
Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested the four accused in separate raids in Dhaka, Manikganj, Mymensingh and Netrokona districts on January 11. 
 
Md Azizur Rahman Musabbir was shot dead by some unidentified assailants at around 8:30 pm on January 7 in an alleyway beside Hotel Super Star in West Tejturi Para in the capital. 

Another man, Sufian Bepari Masud, 40, was also shot and later referred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for improved treatment. 
 
Following the incident, Musabbir's wife filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station against four to five unknown persons.
