BAGERHAT, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS): A kidnapped woman was rescued and the kidnapper arrested in a Coast Guard operation in Mongla  of ??Bagerhat district. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq told BSS on Sunday evening.

He said that on Saturday, December 20, 2025, a woman named Mosha Lima Khatun (18), who had come for a trip to the Sundarbans, was abducted in Banishanta area under Dakop police station in Khulna. When the victim did not return home for a long time, her husband filed a general diary (GD) at Sonadanga police station.

Later, on Saturday, January 10 at 6 pm, the victim's husband went to Banishanta area and tried to rescue his wife with the help of a local person.  Meanwhile, the kidnapper named Sagar Molla , 25, followed them and appeared at the Mongla bus stand area and tried to take her away by force again, posing as the victim's brother. 

When the Coast Guard was informed about the matter, a rescue team   immediately reached the spot. At that time, the expedition team was able to rescue the kidnapped woman and arrest the kidnapper. 

He further said that the rescued woman and the arrested kidnapper were handed over to Dakop police station for further legal action.
